Operation Patio/Firepit

Since the last time I blogged, Heath and I have tackled another 'weekend project'. This time it was a patio and firepit and let me tell you... it was NOT an easy task. It took MANY hours of hard labor but we got it finished and we are really enjoying all those smores and hotdogs. Heath started the project the weekend before Memorial Day because before we could really start he had to dig about one foot of dirt out so we could lay the stones even with the ground. He shoveled and hauled dirt ALL weekend. Thankfully, we only have one shovel so I didn't have to help with that part. :)

The boys spent Memorial Day weekend in Jena with my mom & dad. While they were gone Heath & I worked all weekend finishing the patio. Saturday about noon Heath tore his meniscus in his knee so that slowed us down a little considering that he could hardly walk but he was a trooper and didn't quit. However, we finished it on Sunday evening!!

Here are some pictures of weekend:

Thankfully Jason Coon let us borrow his tractor so we didn't have to use the shovel and wheelbarrow quite as much.

Each one of those stone weighed 40 pounds and each one had to be lifted at least twice!!

Sweeping sand into every crack so the stones would be set in place.

Starting the firepit.

We're DONE!!!!
